When I was 10 years old, I found an old forgotten family camera. There was film in it and
I proceeded to take snapshots of my little world which revolved around my family. Nobody
believed that I had film in the camera but they patronized me anyway while I snapped
away.
When the pictures were developed, I saw that my pictures were different. Because, they
did not believe they were really getting their pictures taken, my subjects were
spontaneous, very expressive and relaxed. Absent was the typical stiff look of people
posing for photographs. Even at that tender age, I could tell that these pictures were more
meaningful – for they captured the true essence of the people I knew so well. Many years
on, this has become the principle of my photography. My greatest joy is in capturing
people when they are relaxed – when they are just being themselves. Through years of
practice, it has become my greatest strength.
My wedding photography in particular is about capturing the precious moments on your
special day. Some of which may have even been forgotten by the couple themselves as
they go about their big and busy day. That is until I show them their photographs. While
their happiness and gratitude mean a lot to me, what’s more significant is the knowledge
that I have captured for them the essence of this special once-in-a-lifetime moment.
When a photograph captures the real you and your loved one, when it has immortalized
the essence of your special day, it will make you smile and you will feel again all the
wonderful emotions you had felt on that beautiful wedding day, no matter how many times
you look at the photographs, and no matter how many years have gone by. That is what I
want my photographs to do for you.
